The challenge

Producing a daily video of that day is already a significant challenge, but doing it in the midst of the french high mountains requires extra creativity, efficiency, and energy. the mobile wattsun dock plays a crucial role. “our batteries drain while shooting. on the go, we don’t have time to search for outlets and wait. with wattsun, we can use a socket with ten inputs while driving for all our battery chargers. this allows us to make optimal use of our drones, cameras, laptops, and light panels throughout the day,” arno explains.

About Merged Content Creators

Arno had been working as a producer and cameraman for quite some time with his partner chiel van rijn. in early 2021, they officially decided to continue growing under the banner of merged content creators. the arnhem-based company handles everything in-house, from filming and editing to 3D and animations. big brands like bol.com and beter bed are just a couple of the many satisfied clients already connected to the company.

Impact at sports events

At merged content creators, the assignments vary significantly. one of the most challenging tasks, arno explains, is covering multi-day sports events. “we work a lot with cyclists, but also with mountain biking, bmx, and running events. in the summer, there are many cycling tours. last year, we were asked to create videos for the ride nl. during this event, participants cycle about a thousand kilometers through french mountains in a week. every evening, they receive a briefing for the next day at their camp. it’s a beautiful moment to watch the day film produced on the same day together. it provides participants with motivation for the next stage.”

On the go, already editing

On the route, there are designated rest stops for the cyclists. The Merged team seizes those moments to do as much pre-work as possible for the video that needs to be ready by the evening. “While people take a break, we already load in the initial footage. We select the usable shots, so in the evening at the camp, we only need to put it together with the music. We are literally working in a hairpin turn on our laptops. Super efficient.”
