The Wattsun Stack as a power supply at the Bloemencorso Lichtenvoorde.

Loud music, float lighting, a laptop, and a soundboard: every float in a flower parade or carnival requires power. In the past, parade groups and associations relied on noisy generators in their floats, but fortunately, there’s now a better option. For the 2024 parade, the Bloemencorso Lansink Bluiminck chose Wattsun’s battery systems.

No More Generators

For years, the Lansink Bluiminck parade group has relied on a generator under their float to power their equipment. It wasn’t an ideal solution, explains float builder Bram Doppen. “Generators are quite large, noisy, and smelly. Plus, they get very hot,” he says. The group’s float is moved entirely by ‘walkers’ using human power—no other propulsion is involved. “Last year, it was 30 degrees outside. You can imagine how unpleasant a generator is in that heat, so we wanted a different solution. This year, we got in touch with Wattsun, and I have to say: it worked brilliantly!”

Bram installed two power points on the float, consisting of two Stacks with a Dock and a Pack. “We connect everything we need to make the float audio-visually appealing—like speakers, lighting, a laptop, and a soundboard.
